Jason talks about sealants how about a root canal. that is me at 3 o'clock today. the past week i have been having a great deal of pain in my molar on my lower left hand side after crunching down on a popcorn seed. after a lot of pain, swelling and meds i finally get this taken care of. the good news is the dentist claims his version is painless and so does all of the reviews online so we'll see. i will update you soon.

blog 123
hello buddies! lately i haven been busy with a lot of school stuff, trying to find a job and the element church starting up.
when we moved done to tampa i planned on finishing my last ten hours online at ecu, but one class was not offered so my graduation was going to be postponed till next year, all for just a two hour class. somehow God rigged it up for me to start taking the class at usf this week even though school is already four weeks underway. Amazing!
i've been in tampa for almost two months and still haven't found a job, until yesterday. one of my friends saw a flyer on campus saying guitar teacher needed for music school, so i called. interviewed and i got the job. the owner of the school is a christian guy and things just seemed to flow throughout the interview. then i pulled out the guitar and whooed him. i give three lessons tomorrow.
element launch service is this sunday. a lot of people are real excited and we think it is going to be awesome! pray for all the things that you pray about when you think of something like this.
longest blog ever. i need a picture. can you name everything in the fridge?

Voxy
Hey guys, just to let you know it has been tough getting used to living in the dorm again. do you know they have things called quiet hours, which start at 10pm, that means no playing guitar late at night like i used to at the BCM. there is one secret though after 10 i use the vox amplug (thanks claude for buying it for me for christmas). it is a headphone amp that sounds almost just like the real thing. so i just plug in at the end of my pedalboard and if i want to add my ipod and play as loud as i want!

Element post
Hey guys for the past few weeks i have been helping out element church setting up their new warehouse, building the stage, and installing the sound equipment all to get ready for the first service. yesterday was practice service, we are going to do two, and i have to say it went quite well. the service flowed really well, Bobby did a great job speaking and the band sounded great. it looked like over a hundred people there. one other cool thing was most of the people are our age and a lot of the married too. so we fit right in. somehow i managed to get the privilege of playing keyboard too. sorry the photo didn't turn out very well.

insurance
nobody likes it, but you can't live without or at least they won't let you drive without it. since janelle and just got married we had to combine car insurance. she already had her own plan so we figured that we would just call and add me no problem. so after about and hour of talking we have a whopping $1700 premium for 6 months (eventually got it down to $1339, thanks jason for haggling tactics).
this morning usaa calls and offer their services, now i have bargaining power. to make a long story short we are down to about $900. this is still what we would pay for the whole year in NC, but to protect us from crazy FL drivers (like Sheila) this will do.
VS.
I save $800 a year by switching from Geico.

i guess i should post
hey guys i am here in the marshall center at usf, which is equivalent to mendon hall at ecu. i have been living for the little things this week. if you don't know what i mean, i have so little to do during the day if there is one thing planned for that day i am really excited. i have been spending a lot of time with the guitar and youtube, you can really learn a lot there. and i ride my bike for hobby too.
on monday i had a job interview with guitar center. it went good, but not as good as i would have liked it, but i wouldn't be surprised if i get the job. he said he would call later this week if i was hired. the position that i applied for was accessory sales, which means i sell pedals and guitar strings and i definitely know a lot about those so i should be fine. talk to you later.

Guitar Center
Today went job hunting. i applied online at guitar center then took a trip there to introduce myself. i hung out there for a while got to know some of the employees and met the manager.
the manager was not very friendly though he actually refused to shake my hand. anyways he said they are hiring and there are good benefits for working there, so be praying that i get the job.
Hey marco do you remember this? so many tubes.

pedal blog Fultone OCD
hey guys here is another long awaited pedal blog. this time it is of the fulltone ocd pedal. this pedal is for people who like to run their amp(s) pretty clean most of the time, but sometimes need a huge overdriven sound. that is where this pedal blows your mind. you will hear the two extremes here. it can go anywhere in between, but long videos take forever to upload. hope you enjoy

trip
Hey guys I just got back from a trip to Wilson NC. I visited Jonathan and Nicole Combs for the weekend. On the way up there i dropped Janelle off in Apex to visit her friend Gav. Getting to Apex was easy, but from Apex to Wilson was crazy, rush hour traffic and trying to figure out which way to go was really tough. It makes me really want a GPS system for the car, especially when we go to Tampa. Big city traffic drives me crazy, but hey I'm home now, safe and I got a freezee pop.
P.S. so far polls are 3 to 2 in favor of the beard for the wedding.
Saturday, May 24, 2008
hey everyone, i kind of forgot about blogging. so here is a slight update. i am doing well in wilmingtion i have been planning for the wedding on june 21st that will be here in wilmington at myrtle grove presbyterian church. i have also gotten a lot of practice on the guitar. one of the first things i did was set up a music room in the garage. now we jam here everyday. my beard is still growing. let's vote beard for the wedding or not.

bloggy, blog, blogg, blogin'
hey guys sorry it has been so long since my last blog. even though it has been spring break i have been very busy. the good new is that is has been fun busy. i just got back from a conference at new spring church in south carolina. i really like going to those things and learning as much as a can from people who are further along and more experienced than i am. it was really great to see all of the passion everyone had that is involved in new spring church. everyone from the preacher, band members, sound and lighting team all the way down to the greeters as you walked in the door. i felt like they were actually excited that i was there. i want to encourage you guys to engage in that kind of excitement (even if it not your personality, its not mine either) and let church be something that people are looking forward to and excited to go to.
songs this week are:
Here is our King (David Crowder Band)
Let me Sing (Todd Fields)

Pedal Blogs line 6 Verbzilla
here is the line 6 verbzilla pedal. this is a reverb unit that has several different types of reverbs. this pedal gives me the ability to sound like i am in a big concert setting right in my home. i demonstrate a few of my favorite ones on this video. 69' spring reverb, hall reverb and cave reverb. this is a great pedal and it is almost always on while i play. if you have any questions just ask. also if you haven't seen them there is a delay blog and a looping blog earlier that you should also check out.

spring of life (kristian stanfill)
mighty to save (hillsong)
amazed chorus (lincoln brewster)
all becasuse of jesus (steve fee)
also if you ever wondered what amp(s) i play through or where they are, fyi. we put the amps in a closet behind the stage to minimize the stage volume and get an overall better sound. here are my two vox ac 30's. that i run in stereo, so some times there are different sounds coming out each and which creates a really cool effect. and just for randy's delight there is 14 tubes there.

weekly blog
hey guys, this is my weekly blog. lately i have been practicing the classical guitar a whole bunch to get ready for friday. i was up until 2:00 last night playing. i would have to say i played the guitar for about 6 hrs. yesterday. sunday morning the pice that i played was call allegro bwv 998 "eggroll" by johann sebastian bach. in classical music is categorized by when it was published and it gets an opus number (op. 474). if a song was written in 1770 and published in 1780 and then another song was written in 1775 and published in 1777 the second song would have the lower op. number. now bach wrote so much music that the classical music historians gave him his own category that was bwv which means Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis or (Bach Works Catalogue). Also Just a remider my recital is this friday Jan 25th @ 5:00 at the recital hall in the fletcher music building. If you can find the BCM it is 2 stoplight past that and on your left. also here is another taste of what i will play. It is call Preludio from the suite del plata.
the songs this week will be:
Your Grace is enough (Chris Tomlin)
Everyday (Lincoln Brewster version)
You never let go (Matt Redman)
Amazed (Lincoln Brewster Version)
Sing to the King (Candi Pearson)

Table-Tennis as the pros call it. last night was the ECU table tennis tournament to see who goes to blacksburg virginia to represent ECU in the tournament at virginia tech. the top four seats get to go so i entered in the tourny, along with a few fellow BCMers to win (Jared, Brent and I). after a lot of hard fought games brent came out on top then thadious (wild card), jared, and in fourth place, just good enough to go was me.

Pedal Blogs Line 6 DL4
if i had to pick one pedal out of my whole board it would be this one. it is called a line 6 DL4. it is a delay/looper pedal. this is one of the most popular delay pedals being used right now. you can see a lot of professionals using them as well as Randy, Marcus and I. The first video will show one of the basic delays that use on sunday morning (stereo delay, one amp plays 8th notes and the other amp plays quarter note triplets) and the second video will demonstrate how the looping function is used. Also just to let you know the fancy thing that i have in my hand durning the looping is called and Ebow (electronic bow) it vibrates the string for me and makes cool sounds, kind of like a keyboard or as synth, but using the guitar. There can be a demo for that as well if you want it. i hope this helps you understand one of my pedals a little bit more. let me know if there are any questions and look forward to more reviews.
